Igen Weyr - Living Caverns
Second only to the Hatching Sands in size — although its walls are not so nearly circular — the living cavern is filled with numerous tables, almost too many to count. Most bear markings by rank and Wing, though there are a couple of dozen free for anyone's use. The Weyrleaders and other ranking residents have the table farthest from the kitchen and hearths, although the hearths are kept as low-burning as possible, just enough to keep the stew pot that always hangs for late-night nibblers at a good temperature. Favored drinks, particularly iced klah and juice, are kept on ice and interspersed at various food tables scattered about, along with baskets of rolls and fruit. There are, of course, scheduled mealtimes, and at certain points of the day the available fare slides into the menu for the nearest meal, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late-night snackings, but the staff has long since acknowledged that people will sit to talk and nibble here at all hours. In the cooler parts of the evening in particular, the cavern hosts games of chess, checkers, dragonpoker, and others. Several degrees are knocked off thanks to the Technician Craft's new cooling system. There are several 'places' that you can find a seat at.

Kellen wanders into the Living Caverns of this Weyr, looking around curiously. He'd caught a ride with his father, who had business around here and he'd felt like just getting out and going somewhere. As he looks around, he idly reaches up ad scratches a spot on his chest a bit before he'd look for a seat. After sitting, he checks his pocket to make sure his writing pad and his pencil were there and easily grabbed if needed.

Zorya is passing through the caverns on her way between supplies and cleaners. Being that she's supposed to be keeping an eye out for someone Kellen's arrival catches her attention as he's not someone she particularly recognizes. The girl pulls a bright, welcoming smile to her lips as steps draw her nearer. "Hello," she offers the greeting, "Welcome to Igen.."

Kellen looks over from where he was sitting at her voice, and he waves and smiles to her. He nods a bit at the greeting, and continues to smile, watching her a bit.

Zorya frowns a bit, but the look is flickering as she draws closer to the boys seat. "Ah.. do think I've seen ya around here before." she says softly. "Ah'm Zorya." she adds the introduction after a short moment.

Kellen shrugs a bit to the first part, then pulls out his pad, turning it around so she can see the front cover. On it is written. "Hi, I'm kellen." He smiles to her again, and scratches his chest again without thinking about it or really noticing he was.
Zorya hmms, "Ya.. don't talk much do you." she comments, as if that weren't clearly obvious. "Nice ta meet ya though Ah guess…"

Kellen shakes his head at that first part, putting a hand over his throat and continuing to shake his head. But after, he smiles and nods. What else other than that could he do. He didn't have to write anything yet as he could get those small points across most of the time without doing so.

Zorya ohs.. Blue eyes blinking a few times at the explanatory actions. "So then… you can't?" Its half question as she comes to something of an understanding.

Kellen shakes his head a bit more. No, he can't. but he still smiles. He opens his pad and then writes a bit. "No, but I'm used to it, even if I have to explain it a bit." he smiles a bit and shows her the note.

Zorya nods again as the explanation continues in written form. "Well.. Ah'm kinda in the middle of chores." she starts, still offering up a smile of her own. "But Ah was kinda thirsty… Juice?"

Kellen nods a bit and smiles. He nods a bit and smiles. Again, he'd scratch, grimacing slightly at a slightly heavier itch in the same spot.

"Ah'll be right back then." Zorya notes, turning to head off towards the table laden with drinks and snacks. Two glasses of juice procured and the girl returns, settling into a seat beside the boy and offering one of the glasses towards the boy.

Kellen reaches out and takes the glass, nodding his thanks before taking a sip. He settles back in the seat and smiles a bit. He continues to sit there and watch her a bit, since he now has a bit of company while he enjoys time here.

Zorya sips at her own glass of juice, staying silent herself for a long while before finally speaking up again. So it's just a bit awkward not knowing what to say of if anything should be said. "So.. What brings ya to Igen?"

Kellen smiles a bit and shrugs. "Just wanted to go somewhere instead of staying at home in Western." he writes. "Dad was headed out here, so i thought i'd come and look around." he shows it to her after writing. Though after, he'd scratch a bit harder and longer at his chest. IF he could speak, he'd probably make a noise of slight irritation at the itch he was feeling.

Zorya hmms and nods. "Oh… So is your dad a rider then?" Its a logical conclusion really. "Or…" What other reason would there be? Just curiosity speaking. Her gaze narrows a bit as he starts scratching yet again. "Ya alright?"

Kellen nods a bit to her first question, smiling. "Brown rider." he writes. Then when she asks the other, he writes "Itchy.." as well.

"Lotion maybe?" Zorya replies with the suggestion. Not that she's even sure of it herself, but its the only thing she can thinking. The girl lifts her glass again to continue sipping at the juice.

Kellen shrugs a bit. "I'll try when I can." he writes. "Itching started earlier..feels like it's just getting worse." he frowns and after showing her the note, continues to scratch a bit. He can't help it as it was just a continuous itch at the moment.

Zorya ohs. "Maybe ya should see a healer then?" Maybe… "Ah guess its just an itch though." she ponders it a bit longer. "Ah really should be getting back ta chores.." she adds coming to the realization that her glass is now empty.

Kellen nods a bit. "I just might do that if it keeps up." he writes. He sips on his a bit slower thanks to the itch but he nods to her and smiles. "Maybe I'll see you around again if I'm ever back to visit." he would write as well.

Zorya nods. "Sure. And it was nice meetin ya." she agrees, moving to her feet. Taking the now empty juice glass the girl deposits it with the rest of the used dishes before heading off.

Kellen watches her go and smiles, sitting there fora while, and continuing to itch, waiting a bit before he'd go see if his dad was ready to go back home.
