Ista without trees and much hotter and dryer

Ista Weyr - Southern Bowl
Compared to that of other weyrs, Ista's bowl is small, and incomplete - northwards, one wall was blown clear away several millenia ago, leaving the view clear towards the plateau, the jungles, and the ocean beyond that. Somewhat elliptical, the breadth of the bowl seems to run Northwest to Southeast, the bustling epicentre of the weyr being here, towards the southwest. Several large entrances have been dug into the great bowl walls here - north east are the hatching grounds, south the Living Caverns, these being the two largest caverns in the weyr.
To the east, a small entrance leads in to the ground weyrs - the ledges of these line the bowl wall above, often filled with dragons of gold or bronze; westwards is another ledge, but with a staircase built into the wall, allowing access to the Sable Sands. The infirmary is located towards the southwest.

High above the Istan Bowl an odd Gold arrives from between, her warble brassy at best as she slowly spirrals downward to a tidy landing. Sakrienth isn't always known for the best of arrivals but for once she does. Sianne on the other hand seems reserved as she slides to the ground. "I know you like the heat but we have heat at home." she notes gruffly as jacket, gloves, helm are doffed and set into bags on the golds straps. "Oh Go find some water to lay in will ya and leave off the snorting, snuffling and overall male hunting yoru not even proddy." And with stomping steps, the Igen Senior moves from her lifemate while the gold just settles there with a draconic smirking expression.

High above the bowl a certain Bronze comes from between trumpetting his arrival to the watch dragons. And making sure every dragon at Ista knows he's there, as the bronze now seen to be Nasheth flies down towards the bowl he see's a queen that he rather fancies and lands right next to her. "R'oc dismounts and looks about the bowl removing his jacket and helmet, exposing his arm that is no longer in a sling. He yawns at first and then stretches, he looks back to Nasheth who moves closer to Sakrienth and warbles softly. That is just before spreading his wings and warding off any other male dragons that might feel a bit forward.

Not as if there isn't enough warmth at Ista, at least compared to some places one could go. Zorya flits along the edge of the bowl, somewhere near the entrance to the living caverns. A step here, a step there, an odd pattern of forward, backward, side to side, and turns of one extent or another, yet each seems to be placed somewhat precisely. The arrival of the gold and bronze however lead her to pause, shading her eyes from the sun to watch them land and rider's dismount.

Sianne stops and waits, turning to eye gold and bronze before waving to R'oc, "Beat ya." she calls out with near merriment before looking back around the bowl. "Igens Greetings." is offered with another wave as the flitting form of Zorya is noted. Sakrienth just soaks it all in, she's horrible when it comes to males prostrating themselves over her own dear self. "Have to admit that Istas climate is a tad better then our own dry heat, at least there's some respite from it here with the water so close at hand."

R'oc walks up behind Sianne as she looks at Zorya and picks her up with a big hug. "Well you got lucky, Nasheth said if he beats Sak here that she wouldn't want to cuddle next to him." He chuckles and then looks at Zorya and says. "Well greetings from Igen." He still holds her as he lets her down and walks over to takes her hand and gives it a little kiss. "My name is R'oc, pleased to meet you. And that giant ball of mush over there is Nasheth." He turns to his bronze and then replies. "Oh yeah, everytime I see your with Sak you seem to melt like a giant ball of wax next to the fire.

"Ista Greetings ta you." Zorya replies, pulling a cheerful smile to her lips as the pair draw closer. A light blush spreads across the girl's cheeks at the bronzerider's greeting, "Ah'm Zorya." she offers her own name in return after a short pause. "Ah can't say Ah've been ta Igen, but Ista's not so bad." she agrees, "Ah suppose ya do sort of get used to it though…"

Sianne snorts, waving off the bronzer but there's a grin on her face that says she doesn't mind his attention. "I'm Sianne, Senior Goldbelonging to Sakrienth over there. Well Met Zorya." One hand motions to the gold that's currently laying with her head on the bronzes forelegs. "Think of Ista without trees and much hotter and dryer too." Stretching slowly, the goldrider seems to peer this way and that, soaking in the differences perhaps. "Perhaps one of these days you'll travel to our sandy weyr."

R'oc turns around to Sianne and then says. "You trying to trick people into going?" He teases before he looks to Zorya. "I don't suppose you happen to know which way the wine is do you?" He tries to whisper it so that Sianne doesn't hear, then he says with a louder voice. "I'm a bit hungry and would like something to eat." He winks at Zorya before he turns to Sianne. "I guess you two ladies will be talking for a while I'm just going to go get something to eat." OF course smiling innocently.

"Well met." Zorya returns the greeting, fingers linking together so that her hands are clasped politely in front of her. At Sianne's description of the desert weyr the girl sends a short glace across the bowl, perhaps to help herself envision the place. "Ah'm sure Ah will Ma'am." she adds with a subtle nod. And then to R'oc she blinks, "No, sir. But Ah'd guess they may have some in the caverns. Or the Sands is just down a ways further." she replies, lifting a hand to point down the bowl towards the Sable Sands resort.

Sianne looks just about ready to belt R'oc in the ribs with an elbow, and it's only a chuff from her lifemate that really stops her. "Why not head to the Sable Sands, I've not been there in a turn or so." then over to Zorya she offers "Join us? It's nice to talk to someone that hasn't seen the Desert Weyr where we come from."

R'oc chuckles as he watches the reaction from Sianne. "Sure why not thats what I meant." The bronzer turns to walk towards the sable sands and then he extends his arms. "Might I, ladies?" He waits for the to accept before he starts walking. "Now the thing I do like about Ista is the view." Though when he says this, is about a few rather skimpily dressed young girls coming up from the beach. "Yup the view is grand."

Zorya hesitates a moment at the offer before she nods. "Ah suppose Ah could." she agrees, sending a glance between the other two. Right… "Ah actually haven't been there in a good while myself." she notes, falling into step with the pair although there's another moment of uncertainty before she takes he arm the bronzerider offers her.

Sianne ignores the girls as she takes the offered arm, her eyes straying from Zorya to Sakrienth and back again to the bronzer. "I have heard that more masculine bodies around Ista aren't hard on the eyes, take L'ton for instance. Now he's a fine one to ponder over a cold drink."

R'oc turns his head towards her and then takes her arm and squeezes it tight, then he says. "You know the only reason I've not been working out is because of my arm….and I'm plenty more handsome than that guy." Oh seems a nerve has been struck, seems he doesn't like the taste of his own medicine. "That guy doens't have anything I don't have, maybe exept less muscles. I mean if we go in a fight I know I'd win." Yup she's set off his puff up chest button.

Zorya 's blue eyes just blink in response to the Igen Weyrwoman's comment. "There are… some." the girl concurs, "Ah wouldn't count L'ton as one though." There's a soft giggle at the bronzer's remark first remark and then she's adding her own in once again. "Maybe so.. but Ah'd hope ya didn't have ta…" Fight that is, of course.

Sianne just grins over at Zorya, adding a quick wink at the girl. "Oh Ease up R'oc, I swear your time in the infirmary has made you stuffy." She quickly pats his arm reassuringly, "Your just fine as you are." Then it's back to speaking with Zorya again. "Tell me, have you always been here at Ista or have you seen other areas?"

R'oc walks towards the Sable Sands, with two beautiful ladies in his arms and now that he has proven his manliness he can be calm. As he nears he ask both of them. "Right have you lived here long, it sounds quite pleasant with the ocean right there. Tell me the Sable Sands, what kinds of drinks do they have? I've never been here and from what I hear they have some fruity drinks that taste rather good.

A light shake of the girl's head has blonde hair breezing about Zorya's shoulders. "Oh no, Ma'am." she replies, "Ah jus came ta Ista about…" she pauses to count, "Six months ago or so. Ah joined the harpers and since then Ah've been a few places. And…" There have been a few trips from that, "Well Ah just got back from Eastern a day or so ago." Though of that she seems quite happy. To R'oc's inquiry there's another shake of the girl's head. "Ah'm not sure, sir. Ah've heard that too, but…" Well she hasn't tried herself.

Sianne mmmms at the mention of Eastern, "I was there for that hatching, though busy trying to keep some of my children in hand so missed watching most of the impressions." As the stroll to the Sands nearly comes to an end she perks up, "YOu know I think they serve all sorts of things from Fruity concoctions that will rock your world to wine and ale too."

"Well we will see about that, now won't we." He smiles as he enters the Sable Sands. "Does anyone around here play cards?" He asks with a bit of a sly grin on his face. "I would like to play while I drink, it always feels right." But then he turns to Sianne and then to Zorya and asks. "So did you see the hatching I was still unable to travel at that point, how many did impress?"

Zorya nods a bit, listening as the woman speaks. Its the man's question that cause her to open her mouth again, "Ah could learn…" she offers in regards to play cards, while to the hatching she gives a subtle nod. "Yes, sir." she replies with downcast eyes. "Ah… was on the sands." There's a touch of a quiver in her voice which is covered by a pause to count in her head and answer. "There were eight, sir." she answers softly. "Two didn't hatch."

Sianne nods in agreement, "A few candidates got buffeted by the hatchlings but nothing to bad." she adds in there. "I can play cards and can recognize a cheat when they show their heads." she adds in there. "It's always a sad thing when a pair of eggs fail to hatch, so far all of Saks eggs have hatched and paired off well."

R'oc looks at the girl as he realizes what he's said. "I'm sorry that is always sad to see, I just I didn't realize." He says trying to concider her feelings. "Well okay I will show you, oh a cheat…you won't see any of those." Now he says that maybe because she won't see him do it or maybe he will be honest what do you think he will do?

Zorya shakes her head. "Oh no, don't be sorry on my account." the girl assures, "Eastern… well Ah don't think it was really the place for meh anyway." Disappointed? Perhaps a bit, but not nearly as much as one could be.

Sianne mmms softly, understanding what the girl says all to well. "I know that feeling to some extent. I stood several times for Fort thought for sure that my place was elsewhere when I finally impressed." Those were days that still call up many conflicting memories for her. "I've heard you do cheat R'oc. Don't be fooled by his innocent expressions, this one is as sneaky as any male can be when he wants to be."

Give Sianne the shocked look, almost as if he really doens't know what she's talking about. "Sianne…why would you give impressions of me to such a nice girl. Why I only play for the love of the game, cheating to win, well thats just not very sportsman like." He looks at Zorya and nods. "Believe me I'll teach you and you will see I don't cheat." Though there is a hint of something more to his kind words.

"Ah wasn't really expectin ta stand either…" Zorya adds. But then being riders themselves they should certainly have an idea of how that goes. "My uncle seems to think Ah'll impress at some point though." and who is she to argue. As for cards the girl nods slight, "Ah'm sure you will…" Though there's a glance to Sianne that says she's not so sure.

Sianne keeps on a moving, pausing to wave at another passing rider who wears a verdent green knot on his shoulder. "I'll keep an eye on him, if he cheats you can smack him." she offers to the younger woman with a grin. "That threat aught to keep him in line or so I hope."

Ista Weyr - Sable Sands Patio
This is the patio for the Sable Sands Nightclub and Bar, what would on a regular weyr be the dragon's ledge. The ledge's surface here, however, has been filled and leveled, leaving a smooth floor upon which are set a number of small, round wooden tables and high-back chairs, all painted a glossy black. The tables are arranged to take advantage of the view, looking out over the broad plateau to the ocean beyond, a perfect frame for sunsets on a clear evening.
Small speakers set deep into the corners of the ledge's overhang relay an assortment of quiet tunes from inside, either recordings or live entertainment as the day offers. The entrance to the weyr proper has been walled off, and a wide set of double doors have been built into the wall. Mounted above the doors is a electric-lit gas sign, the blue letters spelling out the club's name: Sable Sands.

R'oc walks inside and looks around the Sable sands he smiles as he walks the ladies to a table and then lets them take their seats. "Well then how about you ladies get the cards set up you can even shuffle, count, just don't mark them." He looks around and then quickly adds. "Well what would you ladies like to drink, it's on me." He smiles as he waits for their orders.

Zorya giggles just a bit at the woman's commentary. Once table is found the girl slips to a seat, idly smoothing her skirt over her lap in doing so. "Ah'm fine with water." she says, giving R'oc her 'order' as it were.

Sianne taps her fingers most thoughtfully, "Redfruit juice is all please, must be careful right now." she notes softly, almost wistfully. "To the cards it is then, let him be the waitstaff if he wishes." she says to Zorya as she moves to the selected table.

R'oc walks over to the bar and beings to sweet talk the bartender who is making drinks. He points back toward the table Sianne and Zorya are sitting at and then chuckles. What they are sharing between the two is indicernable with the rest of the comotion in the room. He comes back with three glasses two full of Redfruit juice and a water. "Well then who will be dealing the cards?"

"Careful?" Zorya inquires with a touch of curiosity at the weyrwoman's remark, but soon falls silent not prying any further. The girl lifts hands to her shoulders as she shakes her head. "Don't look at meh." she replies once R'oc has returned. She's the one who doesn't know how to play. Remember.

Sianne points a finger at R'oc. "You are doll." With her juice in hand she nods to Zorya, "Sakrienth is prone to going proddy with little warning, the last time I imbibed anything she went proddy and I ended up with a new weyrleader in my Weyr."

R'oc shakes his head and then sits taking the cards up and he begins to shuffle them doing some tricks that he has learned over the years. He takes the cards first and begins to bridge them first then he has one of the girls split them he hands it to Zorya and then when she splits he begins to toss them between the palm of his hands. "Okay them do you need an break down of how the cards work, or did you just need to know what you need to do to play?" If you want we can play a game where you see over my shoulder so you can see how the basics are played."

Zorya ohs, "Well…" It would seem the girl doesn't have anything to say in response to Sianne and Sakrienth. "Ah think Ah might know the cards…" she starts, but then nods at the offer of just watching a hand. "That might help." she replies, "Jus ta get an idea.."

R'oc deals the card to sianne and then to himself he puts the cards face down and then begins to explain the game. "Okay what were playing here is just called poker. The game is a bit difficult to understand at first but once you get it you can't forget it." He looks at his cards and then begins to say. "The point of the game is to get the most valuable hand that beats everyone's hand that your playing with. Now the way you do this is lets say I had two Jacks now that is called a pair. It's the lowest hand that is worth anything, you can go from a pair to three of a kind or four of a kind." He puts his cards down and then says. "Hold on I'm getting ahead of myself so this is how the cards are stacked up from lowest to highest. First if you have nothing the high card is what you would put down. A pair beat high card, two pairs beats a pair, three of a kind beat two pair, A straight which is any suit of cards all lining up such as Ace, two, three, four, and five. Now that beats three of a kind now a flush beats that thats any five cards that are of the same suit. A full house beats that, what a full house is when you have three of a kind and a pair in the same hand. Four of a kind beats a full house. A straight flush beats four of a kind, that is when you have all the same suit all in consecutive order. And finally the highest hand is a Royal flush which is all the same suit of a card but the flush goes from Ten, Jack, queen, king, and ace." He takes a deep breath and then looks at her. "Is it making sense?"

Zorya nods slowly, though the look of confusion on her face only grows as the explanation goes on. "Ah think so…" she replies as he draws to an end. "Maybe just watching once or twice will help though…" she notes. Which then that was their original thought. "Sometimes it just takes tryin it."

"Okay then well these are my cards." He shows them to her and then begins to think of which he will discard.

Sianne sighs as she listens to R'oc ramble on and on. "Can you just deal and we'll go over it then?" she asks between sips of her juice.

"Any you would like to discard?" He grins and then looks over his shoulder. "Just watch this." He grins.

Zorya nods. "Okay so… higher numbers are better.." That much she's fairly certain she's grasped onto. "And then the others." Pairs make enough sense, but beyond things being the same it gets… well confusing.

'Okay well I wager for this you making an amazing dinner when we get back to Igen, and no cooks little missy this is you." He grins and then looks over her shoulder. "Well whats the wager?"

Sianne rolls her eyes at her mate, shaking her head. "Diaper duty for three days and that means all of the little calling me mommy that are in diapers." She turns a grin at Zorya, "There's two of them that he'll be dealing with." she notes in a laughter filled voice.

"Call" R'oc says.

R'oc is holding: JS 10S JC AC JH.
Sianne is holding: 8S 8H 8D 9H 4C.

"Three of a kind…looks like I'm going to have a nice dinner tonight." He grins happily. R'oc looks at her hand and hits the table. "Ha….see the great R'oc never loses!" He looks over his shoulder and asks. "So how does the game look?"

Zorya watches as the two bet against one another and gives a bit of a nod once the cards are turned over. "Ah'm not really sure." she concludes. "Interestin Ah guess.. but Ah guess it just takes playin a few times, huh?"

"Yeah thats the Idea see, the reason I won, even though we both had three of a kind was because I had a higher card values in my three of a kind." He smiles and then gives her a wink. "See thats how we play this game, usually money is involed and thats what can make this game interesting. See a good point is to make the others think you have a good hand because if I bet more money than they are willing to risk I could win with having nothing in my hand. See it's all give and take in this game." He looks at Sianne and says. "Careful now she's learning from the best

Sianne mutters something softly, whatever is rolling around in her head is enough to send Sakrienth warbling brassily from the bowl. "I'll win the next hand I tell you, don't start counting your wherry eggs before they hatch." she states darkly as she motions to one of the waitresses and whispers an order into her ear.

"Would you like to try the game?" He looks to the girl and then to Sianne. "Thats what they all say but then they end up going home in their skivies. Not that I would mind in your case."

Zorya nod again as she slips back to her seat and lifts her glass to take a sip of water.. "Well.. Ah suppose I could give it a try." she notes.

Sianne downs the last of her juice and swaps that glass for a glass filled with the same juice and perhaps something more. "Behave rock." she notes softly "I might surprise you this hand."

R'oc chuckles just before he deals the cards. "So the weather is nice today." He says a grin on his face as he says this.

Sianne hmms softly as she moves her cards are moved around, a faint smile playing on her lips.

Zorya makes a face, frowning a bit as she looks at the new cards, adding them to her hand. "How do the rest of them go again?" she asks aloud. Numbers, well those are rather self-explanatory.

"Jack Queen King Ace." R'oc says as he sucks on his teeth. "Wagers?"

Sianne shakes her head, "Nope not this hand."

Zorya shakes her head as well. "No…" Though what she'd wager if she did. Who knows.

Sianne says "R'oc I need another drink please." she calls out softly when the bronzer leaves the table. "He's not so bad, just a little different from others but our dragons get along as you saw out in the bowl.""

Zorya nods, sipping at her own hardly touched glass of water as drinks are mentioned again. "He seems nice enough." the girl agrees, offering up a smile as the glass is set back to the table top. "So…" she starts, hesitating a moment, "What brings you to Ista anyway?" she hazards ask.

Sianne leans back in her chair, watching the other for a time before speaking. "I needed a change of scenary as well as one of my juniors has a lifemate that was on the verge of rising and it was the smart thing to do to remove myself and my lifemate." IT's all said straight forward like, nothing being held back.

Obviously it wasn't anything pressing as she's been sitting there playing cards, but still Zorya was curious. "Oh.." she nods a bit more as if that all makes perfect sense. Not really though, its clear enough though the girl doesn't inquire any further.

Sianne mmmms, "Sakrienth doesn't like to share her males, mainly R'ocs Nasheth out there, N'hils Quaith, and Oe'llys Pirkith. SO when another gold rises I make sure to remove her as soon as I can to avoid a fight you see." Sianne doesn't seem to believe in hiding things, "Also all the noise they make on their mental level is a bit much for me to handle all the time."

Zorya nods, lifting her glass to take a drink before she replies. "Ah guess that makes sense.." she agrees. "She has hers and .. well no, a fight wouldn't be good." The girl idly brushes at an unseen spot of dirt on her skirt. "Are they really that noisy though?"

Sianne rubs the back of her neck then nods, "Moreso for me unfortunately. I have been able to hear all dragons around me since I was young. Gold flights are the worst to deal with, green ones not so bad. I've learned to block out the worst of it." Her little hidden trait is something she still ducks her head and blushes when she speaks of it. "Sakrienth helps temper the worst of it as well, she's my main block I guess you could say."

The bar. Oh, the bar. One of L'ton's favorite places, certainly, and one that he's once again frequenting. A drink in hand almost immediately, he's scanning the Sands for a familiar face and spotting Sianne, with no other than his niece. After a sip of his drink, he's approaching them and sliding in next to Sianne without a word. "How're may favorite niece and mah favorite desert Weyrwoman?" He questions at a pause in their conversation, giving Sianne's shoulder a squeeze as she ducks her head and blushes.
Zorya ohs. "Ah… hadn't heard of that before." she notes. And then there's a L'ton inviting himself to join them. "Better," she starts, offering the man a smile, "Now that Ah'm back at Ista." Eastern, well he saw her there. "And how's my favorite uncle?" she teases a bit in return.

Sianne smiles up and over at L'ton. "Ahh no wonder you didn't comment much on my comment about him." she mutters softly but with a smile. "I'm fine "L'ton, just avoiding a gold fight as one of the juniors at Igen is rising. You?"

"Shards, ya mean I'm losing a gold flight, and Ah ain't even there?" L'ton makes as if he's going to move, before winking and settling back down, going so far as if to drape his arm over Sianne's shoulders should she let him. Grinning across the table, he shakes his head at Zorya. "Ah'm glad yer back. Ah'd rather not have ta bounce over there all the time with Zip." And then Sianne's other words seem to sink in, and he's turning to look at her. "Wait, ya'll were talking about me?"

Zorya laughs, "Wouldn't you rather lose because you're not there rather than cause ya just lost?" she teases with a grin even as the emphasis on the words makes it more of a question than anything. "We might have mentioned you in passing… So, how do you know each other?" the question is hesitant, but she does ask.

Sianne does indeed let him put his arm around her, afterall R'ocs off chasing eyecandy so why can't she enjoy some herself. "Yes you are, the youngest of them all is rising for her first time." she notes with a smile. "Saks second gold hatchling, first with Quiath." The way that's said it seems as if she's saying that there will surely be more to come from that pairing. "I've been trying to tell her all about Igen." Her glass is taken up again, the last of the juice is sipped thoughtfully as she ponders just how to answer the last questions. "Yes I mentioned you in passing, something about how good looking you are." then over to Zorya, "Metallic riders tend to know each other if not from flights then from meetings and hatchinngs and all."

L'ton seems to consider this, weighing the options. "Dunno, losing isn't always bad, cause sometimes there's pretty girl ta be had, hanging around…" L'ton winks at Zorya, before chuckling, shaking his head. "Ain't like that, Zorya. Dhon ain't ever been lucky 'nuff ta catch pretty miss Sianne here. But, Ah can't tell ya ho wmany meetings Ah've been stuck in, that she's been there, making it bearable." Oh, L'ton, always with a smooth word. Leaving his arm over her shoulder, he grins at Zorya a bit more. "Ya gonna let her steal ya off, again?"

Zorya nods. "Ah should have known…" she says softly, a comment more to herself than the others. That only makes sense after all. Her uncle earns a look for his commentary. Right… Like she -wants- to know about his 'girls'. A short glance between the two and the girl replies with a slight shake of her, "Ah wasn't plannin on it…"

Sianne looks about ready to jab L'ton with an elbow like she was ready to nail R'oc with it earlier. "You were lucky the last time that you weren't the one that got nailed with a fist." she notes, her eyes still in her glass. "Don't let him fool you, I haven't ended up with him in my weyr even in the aftermath of a wild greenflight where I lost it and became the prize of one of the flights losers." She nods with the girls answer, "I wasn't here on a candidate snatching expedition silly man, besides she just got back from Eastern."

"Well, all in sweet time, love, all in sweet time." L'ton continues to tease Sianne, shifting a bit as if to avoid the elbow if it should come. "Ah mean, if'n ya think Ah'm good looking, its only a matter of time before ya give into my charms, right?" He chuckles, glancing at Zorya. "Well, ya say that but.. like ya said, Ah just got her back, Ah dunno if'n Ah'm willing ta give her up ta that desert of yers." Like L'ton has any real say in that, anyway.

Zorya sends a glare towards L'ton. "Ya have someone everywhere ya go, don't ya." She's starting to get what her cousin meant about his women. "But," she starts to say something else, however doesn't finish the thought as the two comment on search.

Sianne sighs and listens, "I hear tell he even has a child with the lady holder of Fort Hold." she adds in. "Don't worry, I don't snatch unwilling people from weyrs, I leave that to males like you dear." she offers with a batting of lashes and a pat to one of his arms if she can.

"Like Ah said, Zor, Sianne and Ah, we're just friends. Ya dun have ta worry about that." He reassures the teen, before arching an eyebrow. "But what, Zorya? Ya were all happy 'bout being able ta come home.. Ah dun want ya ta have ta go away already again." And then Sianne's patting his arm, and he's shaking his head. "Ya make it seem like their unwilling."

Zorya laughs lightly, "Who said Ah was worried?" she inquires. The girl shakes her head at the what, however. "Nothin', sir." she replies, picking up her water glass to take a long drink if for no other reason than distraction.

Sianne just doesn't know what to do or say right now, she's just gonna sit there for a moment and ponder all this fully. "Just friends, yes that's all we are."

L'ton chuckles, giving her shoulder a bit of a squeeze and trying to lean and plant a kiss on the weyrwoman's cheek without any real expectations of succeeding. The question is, how much did he have before he got down here? And then his attention is solely on Zorya, and he's reaching across the table to try and rest a hand on her arm. "Ya sure? Ya seemed all flustered then.. Did something bad happen there?"

Zorya bites her lip for a moment and finally shakes her head in response. Oh, look at the water rings on the table, aren't they pretty? She does, however, look up to the pair as she answers. "Nothin ta worry about." she tries to assure. "Ya know, it was just… a big change."

Sianne just blinks, not sure what to make of all the attention from the bronzer. "Standing for a clutch and even leaving a familiar place like home is hard." she notes softly even if she didn't have to do that. "How many children do you have now L'ton, I thnk I lost count at five."

L'ton is an affectionate person! Sure, at times too affectionate, but that's a challenge to deal with some other day. "Zorya, sweets… Tell me the truth? Ah mean, Ah ain't yer da, Ah ain't gonna fuss at ya." He shakes his head, actually coloring a bit at Sianne's questions. "Dunno… More than that.." He offers, clearly unwilling to count.

Zorya was hoping to avoid it at the moment, but then he's asking. Of course that might not mean much to anyone else, but asking means answering. That doesn't, however, mean she's not going to try to skim over her reply, "It was jus different." a nod to Sianne at the mention of leaving home, "Shadowin and goin places like Deluge Station and then the hatchin itself an all…"

Sianne sits back to listen, alowing her head to rest against L'tons arm perhaps as she does so. She saw the hatching and knows how watching candidates get knocked around can be.

"Ya went up ta the station?" He asks with interest, tilting his head. "How'd ya take it?" He questions, with a smile, even as he reaches to absently pet Sianne's hair as she leans against his arm. "Ya been up there, Sianne?"

Zorya nods. "We did…" she replies, though that seems the be a topic she'd rather have left at Eastern, blue eyes drifting to look back at the tabletop before her. "It was… was…" But she can't find the right word. "Ya know, maybe Ah should jus leave you two ta catch up?" she tries, moving with the comment to start towards her feet.

Sianne waves a hand, "Actually I should return to Igen, Saks says the young gold has been caught and it's safe to return." For a moment Si looks tired and a little older then she really is, perhaps for a moment the stresses of leading the weyr are showing. "Come visit when ever you wish…both of you." As she stands she touches L'tons cheek fondly before offering a smile to Zorya then she slips from the bar back to the bowl.

L'ton reaches up a hand to gently squeeze Sianne's arm as she slips by him, before shaking his head, and looking back at Zorya. "Hey.. Ya dun have ta be embarrassed. First time Ah went up there, as a Weyrling, Ah thought Ah was gonna throw up everywhere. The Yokohama's better though. Ya get the view, without having ta worry about all floating around, and tipping around."

Zorya's experience with technology was extremely limited up until that point, as L'ton very well knows, and well… The girl lifts a bit of a smile to the weyrwoman as she leaves, "It was nice meetin ya." she offers before she's gone. "Ah was so scared Uncle L'ton. And then the hatchin', and…" The girl looks to those wonderful little water rings once again, pausing for a long moment. "Well… Ah dunno that this is all right for me." There. She said it.

L'ton reaches across the table to take her hands carefully as she is once again looking to the water rings on the table. "And why dun ya think its right fer ya sweets? Cause ya didn't find a dragon at Eastern? Lots of people dun find theirs the first time.." He offers softly, shaking her wrist again, trying to get her to look back at him. "Where do ya think ya belong?"

Zorya shakes her head, long blonde hair veiling her expression in part. "No…" she pauses again, "Ah just… Well…" And how does she say it to him of all people. "Maybe.. maybe my father was right." she says softly as she bites her lip, finally lifting her gaze to his, but only for a moment.

L'ton reaches across the table to gently tilt her chin up, making her meet his eyes. "Zorya. Love. Yer da, he ain't right. Ya have so much more than that ta do, so much more than that to get to and enjoy. Ya have a lot ahead of ya. Ah mean, the Harpers, and maybe standing here.." He shakes his head with a smile.

Zorya doesn't fight it, though she still bites her lip and still tries to avoid his gaze with her own. "Are ya sure?" she asks a short pause before she goes on, "Ah mean… at least there Ah knew what Ah was suppose ta do…" Where she stood in the grand scheme of things, even if it wasn't what she wanted she knew.

"Ya can't just let someone else tell ya what ya're gonna do with yer life. Ah mean, ya gotta make yer own choices, cause yer the one that needs ta be happy. Not some old man who's gotta lil thing in his bed." And this is L'ton speaking, no less! And then he's shaking her wrists again, trying to get her to look at him. "Hey… trust me?"

Zorya wets her lips and nods, closing her eyes for a moment. "Yes, sir." she replies, turning her gaze to him and pulling a bit of a smile to her lips as she does. "Ah.. Ah suppose ya have a point."

"Shards, Zorya, Ah bet a turn ago, ya didn't even think ya'd be here, did ya? Ya probably were just waiting fer the next boring season ta come. And, now ya can say ya did a lot more than most did.. ya stood on the Sands!" He grins, giving her hands a squeeze, leaning back in his seat. "Ah mean, it means ya have something more."

Zorya squeezes back lightly before he lets go. "Thanks Uncle L'ton. After all that Ah guess Ah jus.. well wasn't thinkin. Ah mean.." The girl shakes her head, "Ya really think so?"

"Ah really really think so. They dun just Search people fer no reason." He shakes his head, with a smile, tapping his fingers on the table. "Sides, Ah think ya have what it takes a be a good rider. /Ah/ do, not just random rider. Ya can't let yerself get down."

Zorya draws a smile to her lips. "Ah don't suppose you'd mind havin a harper for a niece until then." she replies. She stays silent for a moment as she waits for his answer. "Oh!" she suddenly exclaims, pulling a piece of paper from her pocket and offering it over to the bronzerider. "Ah thought you might like it…"

"Shards, 'course ah dun mind having a harper as a niece. Ah mean, even fer good, if'n that's what ya'd rather have. Ya should do what ya want, and its special ta be a harper." L'ton looks at her rather shocked, before he's shaking his head, carefully taking the sheet from her, reading over it slowly, before turning his smile up. "Ya write it?"

Zorya nods slowly, "Jus before Ah went ta Eastern. Ah just didn't get ta see ya really between now an then." she replies. A short pause before she asks, "So.. what'dya think? Ah know it ain't so great, but Ah thought ya might enjoy it.." As she already mentioned.

"Ah course Ah like it!" He offers with honest enthusiasm, keeping it in his hand and rereading parts of it as he does so. "Ya dun expect this back, do ya? Ah can keep this?" He asks with a grin, waving the paper around some.

Zorya giggles just a little. "If ya want to." she agrees, "Ah don't really need it." She's been there, heard that story more times than she cares to have. "Keep it if ya like," she adds with a little wave of her hand.

"Thanks sweets." He chuckles, shaking his head and carefully folding the paper to tuck it into the inner pocket of his jacket, patting it for safe measure. Reaching for his now rather watered down drink, he's sipping at that, before grinning. "Ah gotta go check on Mai, but.. Ah'll see ya a lil later, right?"

"Ah'll be around." Zorya assures with a nod. "Ah had a couple other things Ah wanted ta show ya. So… maybe if ya have some time some day." she suggests. He's given a smile again, "Ah'll see ya later."

"Come find me some morning, Ah'm usually here in the morning… not so much the afternoon." He grins, reaching to ruffle his niece's hair before heading back off, wobbling a bit. Definitely too much to drink.
