On the Terrace with Kharzan

Eastern Weyr - Garden Terrace
Neat, even planks form a boardwalk set approximately two feet above the ground. Unfolding to either side of the walk-way flourish the lush tropical gardens of Eastern, either brilliant colors and green well kept with Eastern's near eternal spring. Rare trees mingle amongst interestingly formed as well as common yet attractiver trees dot the terraced landscape. Brightly blooming flowers are abundant, their colors ranging from lavender to blue to white and even startingly shades of pink. The large tropical flowers cast their sweet smell over the little alcoves scattered about the garden and heavenly cloying scents waft about. Towards the center of the gardens is a large terrace enclosed with lattice fences, over which blooming vines have been draped. A large dance square and a quiet bar, with a few high tables, have been set up in the gardens as an escape from the hectic rush of the main cavern.

Kharzan is off to one side, sitting at one of the high tables over by the bar. He's enjoying a nice tall glass of mixed juices. It must be mixed for there's reds and oranges and yellows. It's lunch time and with most people in the commons, he's retreated to a slightly quieter spot.

Zorya seems to be doing the same in avoiding the crowds of the commons as the girl make her way across the path to the gardens. Halfway she steps and spins on her toes before continuing. No food or drink for her just yet, but as she comes onto the terrace itself she does spot the boy and after a second of hesitation she decides to make her way towards him. "Afternoon." she offers with a pleasant smile. "It was.. Kharzan. Right?"

Kharzan startles a little and blinks at Zorya. Then it dawns on him who she is and why she might actually be talking to him. "Umm, yeah. Kharzan. And umm, you're Zorya? Yes?" he asks as he watches her quietly. After a moment he looks a little sheepish and gestures to a chair opposite "Want to sit?"

Zorya nods. "That's right." she agrees, smile brightening a bit as he offers for her to join him. "Thanks," the blonde adds, settling onto the chair he gestured to. "So did you get your," What was it called again? "..Your thing working?" He knows, that thing!

Kharzan watches Zorya sit and clears his throat a moment "The generator. I did get it working. Had to replace the brushes for it though, they were a little to worn out from being taken apart and being put back together again." he notes.

Zorya nods. "Oh..?" Like she has any idea what any of that meant… "Well good to hear." Pause. "So, are you from around here then?" Because clearly she's not and there's that whole getting used to a new place thing going on.

Kharzan hmms and shrugs a bit "Not originally. I grew up in the FarmCrafthall actually, I came here when I joined the TechCraft." he replies and then hmms a little as he pauses to think. "Umm that was uh, a few turns back or so." Pause "So, where are you from?"

"Shipton originally…" Zorya replies. A cothold that he very well may not have heard of. "Ah was at Ista Weyr for a bit then before joining HarperHall. And now Ah'm here, though least its not as cold as Reaches." She was there once and the thought of staying there for any longer than she did already isn't very appealing.

Kharzan shakes his head a little "Never heard of it." he remarks and eyes his drink a moment as he gnaws on a lip "Harper huh?" he finally says "What's that like?"

Zorya shrugs lightly. "Doesn't surprise me really. They tend to keep to themselves mostly…" Shipton that is. The girl nods as he asks about the harpers. "I like it. Ah mean it's alot a work most days. There's soo much to learn." Evidently more than she'd first thought when she joined the ranks of the craft. "But Ah don't think Ah'd do it different if Ah had the chance."

Kharzan hmms a little and nods at that "There always seems to be a lot to learn. But I love learning." He smiles a little sheepishly "Got me in trouble as a kid, I was always taking thingsw apart to see how they worked. Took some learning to figure out how to put it together again."

Zorya laughs lightly, "Yeah, I do too and kinda got the same thing. Just not with takin things apart and all." She found her own ways of getting in trouble though. "So.. what's it like here?" Since he said he's been here for awhile.

Kharzan nods a little as he listens to her and then blinks "What's it like? Umm, hot?" he scratches the back of his neck a little "Umm, thinks aren't too bad here. Most people seem okay." he shifts a little in his seat.

Zorya nods slowly, "Yeah.. Ah guess Ah jus haven't been in one place very long since Ah left home." she explains. "Its hard to keep meeting new people all the time sometimes." She bites her lip a little before looking back up at the boy, "Maybe you could introduce me to a few people?" Maybe?

Blink, innitiate panic mode. Help? "Umm, introduce?" Kharzan asks with just bit of a gulp. "I, uh, guess I could do that." he looks around at various people that pass through, lots of famliar looking faces, names to go with? Problem. A look back at Zorya "Sure, yeah umm, yeah sure. I can do that." Maybe…

Zorya blinks as well. … "You're not much of a people person are you…" she half questions given his behavior now and at their first meeting. "That's okay. Not everyone is. And even people who are aren't always." she offers in attempt to make him feel better about it. She didn't mean it in a bad way.

Kharzan coughs a little and even blushes slightly "It's not that I don't like people." he says after a moment "It's just that, well. I get so caught up in what I'm doing that well, I uh well, don't get out much." he looks quite sheepish "People just aren't umm gadgets?" he asks and then coughs again.

Zorya giggles. "No, Ah suppose they aint." she agrees. "Can't take 'em apart and put 'em back together ta see how they work ever well." she teases lightly, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "Seem ta be doin alright to me just now."

Kharzan laughs a little "Well, no, can't rightly do that." A thoughtful pause "Well, I suppose you can in a way, I mean that's what Healers do and the like." He coughs again a little, seeming embarrased "Well, you're easy to talk to. You don't go on and on about your hair and guys and all those things girls tend to jabber about. You talk about well, real things."

Zorya blinks. "Well…" Blink. "Ah talk about that stuff too, jus didn't seem like somethin ya'd be interested in." She she's talking about other things. "Besides Ah dun know any boys here ta talk about anyway."

Kharzan nods a little at that. "Least you can talk about interesting things." a pause and then he finishes off his glass "Do you swim?" he asks after a moment "That water here is real nice and all. Really nice when it's raining too."

"Um…." Zorya blinks again. That was a surprise question wasn't it. "Well sometimes.." she finally answers with a bit of a nod. Provided swimming equals wading and not actual swimming swimming. "Would be a change of things from lately…"

Kharzan gives a little nod "One of the best ways to actually really cool down. I mean it gets so hot and muggy and well." He shrugs a little "Typically a lot of the residents tend to head down in the evenings when they've free time and such. Other times through the day as well, but a lot in the evening."

Zorya nods. "Ah suppose," she agrees. "Can see where it'd be nice with the weather and all." Cause like he mentioned, it is a little hot and muggy. Yuck. "Guess Ah jus haven't had time to find it yet."

Kharzan gives a little nod "Well, you did just get here, and they do tend to keep us busy and all." he notes with a little shrug "But, well umm. You know now?" he frowns a little and traces some scar on the table "But uh, yeah. Swimming is good." Lame…

Zorya laughs, "Yeah," Busy might be an understatement at times. "Maybe we should head over for a swim sometime then when we have a bit. It would be a nice change of pace." she agrees.

Kharzan nods and smiles "That'd be great." he states and then leans back a little "So umm, have you ever stood before?" he asks after a moment "I've not, and it's true what they say Talisyth does tend to be umm, temperamental, so well." A little nervous? Yes, he is.

Zorya shakes her head. "No, this is my first time too." And yes, despite her ability to talk about 'real' things and not just boys and hair, she is nervous about it as well. "At least they warned us about her though.. right?"

Kharzan hmms a little and then nods "It's true." thoughful pause "Dragons are so vastly different from each other. I mean there's one here who tends to dig holes and all, and umm the bronze who searched actually growled at me a bit. But golds, golds I've not really been by but you hear things."

Zorya nods. So very true. "I guess they're kinda alot like people then. Being so different from each other and all." she thinks aloud. "Yeah, the bronze who searched me was rather… odd."

Kharzan tilts his head a little "Odd?" he asks after a moment "Just how was he odd? I mean I could understand the one being cranky, it was raining and I was taking a break and watching it and well when his rider just sorta told me that his dragon wanted me to stand, I didn't exactly move quickly. I was a little surprised."

"He was .. dancing .. I think. Maybe?" Zorya replies, quite unsure what to even call the behavior herself. "Even his rider thought he was acting strange." she notes. She wasn't the only one who thought it was odd. Everyone there did!

Kharzan blinks a moment "Dancing?" he shakes his head trying to visulize it and not succeeding really well. "Guess he was happy to have found you maybe?" he asks and hmms a little "That is kinda odd."

Zorya shrugs. "I have -no- idea. Like I said. It was … odd." To say the least it would seem. She sighs softly to herself as she leans back in the chair once again. "I guess I just don't know what to think about any of it."

Kharzan nods slowly "It certainly sounds it." He traces the scar on the table again. "I guess the best thing would not be to wrooy about it? Well, unless he does it again. Though that would be something to see."

Zorya laughs a bit at the comment. "Yeah, that would be something to see wouldn't it…" she agrees. Sigh. "I suppose I should probably be going though… busy busy you know." As if he couldn't know how it is, him being a candidate as well.

Kharzan gives a little nod "Yeah, I've got some cleaning to do in some of the back tunnels myself and check the tunnelsnake traps in the storeroom."
