Weaver Delivery

Ista Weyr - Southern Bowl
Compared to that of other weyrs, Ista's bowl is small, and incomplete - northwards, one wall was blown clear away several millenia ago, leaving the view clear towards the plateau, the jungles, and the ocean beyond that. Somewhat elliptical, the breadth of the bowl seems to run Northwest to Southeast, the bustling epicentre of the weyr being here, towards the southwest. Several large entrances have been dug into the great bowl walls here - north east are the hatching grounds, south the Living Caverns, these being the two largest caverns in the weyr.
To the east, a small entrance leads in to the ground weyrs - the ledges of these line the bowl wall above, often filled with dragons of gold or bronze; westwards is another ledge, but with a staircase built into the wall, allowing access to the Sable Sands. The infirmary is located towards the southwest.

One would think if you're headed for the living caverns, you'd have your dragon land in the Southernmost of the bowls. Obviously L'ae and Loraenth didn't think that one through so well as the rider trudges across the bowl towards the interest in a rather well, zombie-like fashion. No, the rider is definitely not awake as he peers around with a rather bleary expression.

Zorya is just headed out of the living caverns. A smile is flashed towards the zombiefied rider trudging in her direction and the girl raises a hand to give a bit of a wave in greeting.

L'ae spots the wave and approximately thirty seconds later lifts a hand in return. Yes, it did indeed take that long and quite possibly he would have missed his window of opportunity. But he a rather lopsided smile accompanies the failed attempt and is followed by a "Hey, wondering if you could help a poor lost messenger?"

Zorya laughs lightly, a smile playing across her lips at the delayed reaction. "I'll do my best." she offers. "I haven't been here at the weyr for all that long, I'm not sure that I'll know who you're looking for." But she'll try. "Maybe a cup of klah? You seem pretty tired…"

L'ae ponders the question for a moment and then gives a bit of a nod. "It's bloody early." Well, at least at Eastern which his knot designates as his home. Who needs to be proper when it's approximately five in the morning? "But I gotta deliver this letter first, urgent they say." Obviously the rider doesn't /really/ seem to believe that. "Know anyone named Tryer? He's a journeyman in the weaver craft if I remember right."

Zorya blinks. "Early?" she questions sounding a bit confused until she notices the rider's shoulder knot. "Where 're ya from?" she questions curiously. She thinks on the name for a moment, pursing her lips in the process. "It doesn't ring a bell." she replies with a shake of her head.

L'ae gives a nod at the early bit before rubbing a hand over his face quickly. "Eastern, where it's the beautiful hour of five right now." One would hopefully guess he means in the morning. "Shards, hoping it would be easy." maybe even hand it off to the girl and make her run it? Maybe.

Zorya ohs. "That would make the difference." she comments with a bit of a nod. Five is early, and she certainly wouldn't want to have to be up at that hour. "Sorry I couldn't be of more help."

L'ae nods his head a little as he hides an attempt to stifle a yawn behind one hand. "Well, you could show me the way to that klah. I'm sure it can wait long enough for me to have a drink." Need his mind at least somewhat functioning if he wants to find the recipient of the delivery, right? Right.

"Of course," Zorya agrees, motioning towards the living cavern entrance, "Just in the cavern, there should be some left in the pot on the table. If not I think they should be bringing a new one soon enough." she explains leading the way, just a half step ahead.

*Ista Weyr - Living Caverns**
Large enough to house the entirety of the weyr's population at one time, the cavern set aside to house the very heart of the weyr's life is a grandiose, somewhat circular affair, filled with rows of long tables. Bustling and busy, it is a rare moment indeed when there is not someone at work or leisure in here; the long trestle table by the kitchens is perpetually filled with plates and trays of food, a pot of something always bubbling upon the mahogany hearth, ready to fill the belly of any hungry resident or rider. Although a high table is set aside for seating respected dignitaries on formal occasions, most of the tables here are not designated to any particular group— rather, all levels of Ista's population eat together, intermingled across the broad cavern.
Great tapestries have been flung down the walls, orange and black borders remarking upon Ista's heritage, the age-faded hangings depicting scenes of importance to the Weyr— the erruption of the volcano; the first clutch; the view from the star stones, over forest, dark beach, and glistening waves of blue. Propeller-like fans have been affixed to the ceiling in more modern times, cooling the cavern on the hottest of days. Passageways lead up the stairs to the kitchens, down a second flight of stairs to the lower caverns, and out into the expanse of the broad weyr bowl.

L'ae follows, with almost the puppy dog effect though admittedly he's just a bit old to be one. "Next question is how strong do they make it here?" It's an important question after all. Least he's awake enough to follow the directions and beeline it to the pot.

"Maybe just try it first?" Zorya suggests with a slight shrug of her shoulders, "I like to mix it with milk…" But that's just her, "How strong kinda depends on who made it too." Meaning test first is usually her best bet.

L'ae nods at that sage advice, first finding the biggest mug and pouring in the rather dark looking roast. Don't mind that slightly blissful look on his face at the smell. Sometimes you just need klah, and right now is one of those moment. Admittedly he doesn't drink it straight it seems as his eyes scan the counter. Ah-hah! The container of sugar is grabbed and quite a bit is poured in. Maybe more than is entirely necessary.

Zorya eyes the blue rider for a moment, leaning back against a nearby table as he adds his sugar. A little giggle escapes her lips, "Sure that's enough sugar?" So maybe its not the best idea to pick on him about it, but… that's alot of the sweetener.

L'ae slowly trails his eyes over to the girl while stirring the now properly sweetened drink and gives a big lopsided grin. "Don't know for sure if until I taste it. With the size of the mug I might just need a little more." Yeah, he's teasing, maybe.

Zorya giggles. OKay, well at least he wasn't mean back at her for her commentary. "This is true." she agrees, leaning perhaps a little to hard on the edge of the small table. This of course has the unfortunate effect of tipping said table causing the girl to jump. While she moves fast enough to keep the table from tottering over, she also does so in a fashion that causes her to loose herown footing.

L'ae isn't the overly crabby sort when he's tired it seems, though there was some annoyance earlier about the 'urgency' of the message. Which admittedly he hasn't delivered yet. Oops? The real problem arises when she tips the table while he's holding the mug up to his face and blowing on the surface of the klah. The mug abruptly returns to the table, perhaps a little too abruptly as it splashes over the side. "Shardit!" escapes from the rider's mouth as he shakes his hand but the other still goes to steady the girl. "Careful." Unlike him, don't take lessons from him for the likely burnt hand.

Zorya squeaks, trying to pull her feet back under her to regain her balance. "I'm so sorry!" she apologizes quickly once she's managed to find her feet. "I'm normally not that…" Clumsy? "I just, I didn't think it'd move that much." Does anyone ever? But you get close enough to the edge and it doesn't take much.

L'ae simply rubs the hand dry on his pants as he glances over the girl to make sure she's okay. But of course he has to add that in as well vocally. "Are you allright?" The apology gets a little bit of a shrug, not her fault that table is tippy, right?

Zorya nods, "Yeah, I'll be fine." she replies. Just scared her more than anything. "I really am sorry about that though." She's just not being any help at all is she. "Your message though.." she starts, changing the subject. "You said it was for a weaver?"

Hey, she got him Klah and that's definitely a big help right there. Definitely seems more awake but wait, he hasn't even had any yet. Probably her near disaster snapped him out of it a bit, but now it's time for klah which gets careful sips. "Mmm, yeah."

"There's a craft area out down by the beach." Zorya suggests. "That might be a good place to look at least to start.." Thankfully she's wandered about enough to know that much.

L'ae nods his head a little bit as he starts to more seriously drink the klah as it cools down. Obviously he needs to finish that first. Walking and drinking is difficult after all. "Guess that'd make sense. You think I'd know after a couple deliveries, but all weyrs are arranged so differently."

Zorya nods. "I'd guess they are." she agrees. "It only makes sense since I wouldn't guess the place they're built is the same every time or anything." Pause. "I could show you," she offers, "I think I remember where it is."

L'ae nods his head again and holds up a single finger at the offer. With that the rest of the klah is downed and the mug set aside. "Allright, that's better. Shall we?" With the amount of klah he just had it's amazing that he's not bouncing.

Zorya waits patiently while he finishes off his drink. Once he's set she steps off, falling into step beside him once he's moving towards the cavern entrance as well. "Like I said, it's down over by the beach."

L'ae adjusts his stride slightly as well, allowing the other to pace him easily. "Allright, flew over that so I think I know approximately how to get there?" Meaning she's going to be doing most of the leading.

Ista Weyr - Main Beach
The famous black sands of Ista spread out about the great cove upon which the weyr has been built, gleaming under the rays of both sun and moon, like diamonds in their own pristine beauty. Caught between the brilliance of the deep, verdant greens of the forest, and the crystalline blues of the shallows, gradually deepening their colour deeper into the great ocean, the beach is no less striking, truly beautiful in its own way.
The hot, heavy rays of the sun reach deep into these sands, forever blazing underfoot, although the water remains cool and refreshing even upon the hottest of days, never quite reaching the point of being tepid. Off to one side, coming from the plateau, a small, thin waterfall, empties into a catching pool that runs off into the water through dark sand and pebbles.

Zorya nods, leading the way towards the beach. "So how come they have you delivering a message so early?" she wonders on the way. "I mean its not early here, but you said for you… and well you're the one who's delivering.." So she's just curious.

L'ae shrugs his shoulders with an eyeroll. "I don't know, supposedly it's urgent but I can't imagine why." Admittedly the shoulder bag he's carrying (and has been the whole time, really) appears to hold something a little large for firelizard to carry. "Maybe it's supplies he needs to finish something that needs finishing today? Sadly I'm not supposed to peek."

Zorya just nods again. Well its an answer, she wasn't exactly expecting anything more. "Should be right up over there." she says, pointing in the general direction of the crafter area.

L'ae there's a bit of a grin from the rider as he adds "Or maybe I crossed Mianyi somehow and it's her revenge?" Always a possibility at well, though it does sound like he's joking. "So how can I thank you for your help?"

Zorya giggles and shakes her head. Whether the laugh is to his revenge comment or the offer of thanks is unclear. "That's alright. No need to thank me." she replies with a bright smile.

L'ae grins brightly in return and adjusts the strap running over his shoulder. "Allright, well thank you anyhow, you've been a great help." The caffeine offering alone would have done it for him.

"Your welcome." Zorya bubbles. "Maybe I'll see you again sometime if you're delivering at Ista. And hopefully it won't be so early for you then either." she adds. Being up that early just to make a delivery… that can't be fun.

L'ae gives a bit of a wave with another one of those lopsided grins. "Maybe, I do end up out here on occasion." Not as often as some other places as there's actual rounds they're assigned to, but that's besides the point. "Nice meeting you…" then there's a blink. "I didn't catch your name…"

"Zorya," the girl replies, rocking up to her toes and back down. "I don't think I caught yours either…" Now that he mentions it. There were other conversations taking place and apparently that formality was forgotten.

Formality goes by the wayside when you're exhausted and not actually awake yet. "L'ae, rider of blue Loraenth." Look, that's a definite sign he's more awake now. "Well, I'd better go get this delivered before at least one person has my hide."
