Meeting Niah

Ista Weyr - Main Beach
The famous black sands of Ista spread out about the great cove upon which the weyr has been built, gleaming under the rays of both sun and moon, like diamonds in their own pristine beauty. Caught between the brilliance of the deep, verdant greens of the forest, and the crystalline blues of the shallows, gradually deepening their colour deeper into the great ocean, the beach is no less striking, truly beautiful in its own way.
The hot, heavy rays of the sun reach deep into these sands, forever blazing underfoot, although the water remains cool and refreshing even upon the hottest of days, never quite reaching the point of being tepid. Off to one side, coming from the plateau, a small, thin waterfall, empties into a catching pool that runs off into the water through dark sand and pebbles.

As afternoon draws to evening Zorya has found herself at the beach, slowly winding her way across the black sands. In one stretch others mingle, tending to their own affairs of bathing dragons and idle chatter among other things. The blonde haired girl however has found herself further down the reaches of the lakeshore from this gathering.
"The violet and the primrose too
Beneath a sheltering thorny bough"
Her voice carries the melody a short distance around her before the breeze snatches it and its lost. A look down and she shakes a foot to remove a particularly annoying clump of sand from between the bottom of her toes and the sole of her sandal.

A spot away from people is something that appeals to someone with Niah's disposition. She sits well strapped in, on the back of her sapphire blue Celiketh. The dragon walks along, unusual as it would be quicker to fly. None the less he meanders along, the rider comfortable and spotting Zorya she gives a small wave. Dismounting and looking over at the others, eyes narrowing and glazing over before she removes Celiketh's straps, placing them well above the high water mark. As the blonde teen starts to sing Celiketh perks up, the blue turning and nudging Niah gently towards her. Niah shakes her head, but eventually goes towards her. "Hello?" Speaking as if she isn't sure the teen is there.

"In bright and lively colors blow
And cast sweet fragrance ro—"
The girl continues her song not realizing just yet that there's anyone else nearby. Its the voice of the blue rider however that catches her attention, ending her song mid-word the girl turns a bright smile on the woman. "Hi!" she chirps, returning the greeting with one of her own, "I didn't realize anyone else was down this way. I wasn't bothering you was I?" the question is posed as an afterthought, the realization that she might have been coming to mind.

Niah shaking her head and giving a forced smile the shy, blueriding brunette says. "Oh no, I sure hope I am not upsetting you either. I mean if we are we're really sorry." She slips from I to we very easily, and probably without actually noticing it. Turning her head to watch her lifemate who is contently standing and watching Niahs exchange with Zorya. Taking a few steps back she says, "See, mine likes music and he wished for me to tell you that." Her cheeks are bright crimson, but she speaks of Celi with an out of place trill to her voice.

Zorya ohs. "No, of course not!" she bubbles with a laugh. "Just didn't realize anyone was listening." the girl replies, the smile continuing to dance on her lips. She turns her steps to draw nearer the woman and her lifemate, but stops a ways away. Far enough that the blue might not be able to reach her without having to move, but close enough to carry conversation.

Niah doesn't seem bothered by the distance, taking a step back as Zorya takes a step forward. Awkward silence for a moment, Niahs eyes glaze over, and she appears out of touch before looking back and saying. "We are terribly sorry." Using we again, and her voice is small and quiet. Shying away for a moment, but her lifemate gives her a little nudge and she asks, very bad at the small talk. "Are, ummm are you liking ista??" Reaching a hand behind her so she can touch Celiketh.

Zorya giggles. "I don't mind." she replies. No reason for them to be sorry at all. "Its different." she admits in reply, "But ah don't have anythin bad ta say bout it. Liking it so far." The girl purses her lips just a bit as she looks towards the blue rider, "You look familiar…" But with all the people, and her having just arrived, at the graduation its no wonder she doesn't remember.

Niah shrugs her shoulders a little, her hands tremble slightly and she says "Oh, well we met… Umm I am carrying your cousin." Putting a hand on her stomach, she looks about five maybe nearing six months pregnant. Explaining that she blushes if possible a deeper red. "I just moved as well, it is nice isn't it?" Looking around and taking a deep breath, absorbing her surroundings. Closing her eyes she smiles, a real bright smile that disappears as quickly as it came as soon as she opens them. Biting down on her lower lip worriedly.

"Well met…" Pause. "I'm sorry, I don't think I quite caught your name." Zorya admits, watching the woman's actions curiously. She stands quiet a little longer. "It is nice, but are you always so nervous? That can't be good for the baby. Zariah was like that when she was with Emlianne and she's always sick and fussin'. Momma says sometimes it just helps to talk about things, then ya aren't so worried. Maybe its cause you moved." Well that's her best thought with the information she has thus far. "Cause everythin's new and everything." And that's her opinion on the matter. So there.

Niah listen contently, eyes getting big. "I just, it's just." She gets very quiet, and Celiketh comes to her side and allows her to lean on him. As Zorya speaks her hands tremble a bit more and she shakes her head, "No, no.." All of Zorya's words are having an opposite effect on Niah. Shaking her head, almost in tears she says. "I see healers, I did and I am just shy, just don't want people to touch me.. just shy." It doesn't take much to shake her up and she says, "No, not because of that." She appears upon the edge of a break down or a revelation.

Zorya ohs, blinking as the woman seems more shaken up at her commentary. Its not the first time her opinion was wrong and its bound not to be the last. The teen reaches out a hand to comfort her, pulling it back rather quickly at her mention of not liking to be touch. "Well… I um…" What's she supposed to do now!? "Shy isn't bad… " she offers gently. "Look, no one else is here and I promise I won't touch unless you say. Okay?" Now, she just has to remember that. "I bet you're just shy caus'in you don't know anyone."

Celiketh rumbles, he croons musically to Niah and her eyes glaze over. Her stare is glassy for a few moments and then she relaxes. As the hand is reached out she takes a step back and says, "No, no." Seeming to be her default response. "When, when i was little my mother would get mad at me for being to shy. She was never really happy with me, and so I got quiet." Shrugging a bit and stroking down Celikeths muzzle. "Thank you, and-and I am Niah." Introducing herself with a little sigh. "The more people you trust, the more likely you are to get hurt." She whispers, a little tearing running down her cheek. "And if you keep quiet, and keep to yourself no one can get mad at you."

"My father's always mad at me," Zorya offers if it'll help at all. "Maybe, maybe not." she comments once Niah has explain her opinion on the matter. "If your quiet no one can get mad at you.. but I'd think it'd get lonely being quiet all the time. Just cause you got hurt once doesn't mean its gonna happen again. I mean just cause you trip once doesn't mean you're gonna do it again the next time you take a walk."

Niah is silent for a long time, just closing her eyes and listening to the waves. "I was raised by nannies a lot, but whenever I did see my mother. I would watch her, hear what she said about me. I was not the son she always wanted." She just stays quiet for a time, shrugging. "I don't want to talk about it." She says, looking as close to frosty as she can. The slight tremble to her hands, and the quivering of her voice take away the power her statement has.

Zorya nods. "We don't have to talk about it." she replies, the smile still playing lightly across her lips. "We could talk about something else." Think, think, think. The girl ponders a second, idly tapping the fingers of one hand against her skirt. "You could tell me about Uncle Pallaton?" Well she knows him, right.

Niah moves out from besides Celiketh and says. "Alright." Agreeing and sitting down, her dragon lays down curling besides her and giving the pregnant woman a back rest of sorts. She looks torn as Zorya asks about L'ton, but lights up just a little as she speaks. Her voice is slightly sing song, quiet and happy. "L'ton is very nice, he came and talked to me on the beach at Ierne. Until then I never really thought, I mean I always wanted a baby.. then I asked and he agreed and he has been such a good friend to me." She babbles on, speaking of him like someone may speak of a favorite big brother. "I do not really know much more, he was so so good to me though. He visits me and is a good father." Hopefully she didn't want a realistic view.

Zorya slips down to sit as well, taking her lead from the blue rider, though she doesn't move any closer. She's content to listen while the woman talks, but when she says she doesn't know much more the girl frowns slightly. "Oh…" She pauses, unsure of what to say next. "Well it sounds like you like each other well enough." she settles, the smile quickly returning. "And like he's one person you trust. See, its not so bad all the time is it."

Niah gives a little nod in response, her face goes back to being slightly frightened. Looking over at the people washing dragons and playing in the surf, after watching for a moment she relaxes again. "I mean, what else do you wish to know?" raising and eyebrow, and watching Zorya's face carefully. "I know that he has a lot of children, he is the Weyrsecond. I know that Zipalla was taken from her mother at a young age, and I mean. We do not do a lot of talking." Blushing brightly.

Zorya ohs, perhaps a little disappointed as she looks down to pick at her nails. She's trying, but it doesn't seem to be working like she'd like. "That's okay, sounds like you know about as much as I do." She pauses, looking back up toward the blue rider, "What'd you wanna talk about?"

Niah yawning a little, and rubbing a hand down the side of her stomach, "I know his weyrmate to, she is nice." Blushing again and allowing the silence to take over. Closing her eyes, she says softly "I don't know, I think I may just go wash Celiketh and go back to the ground weyr." With that the pair head towards the water.
