Meeting Lear

Ista Weyr - Southern Bowl
Compared to that of other weyrs, Ista's bowl is small, and incomplete - northwards, one wall was blown clear away several millenia ago, leaving the view clear towards the plateau, the jungles, and the ocean beyond that. Somewhat elliptical, the breadth of the bowl seems to run Northwest to Southeast, the bustling epicentre of the weyr being here, towards the southwest. Several large entrances have been dug into the great bowl walls here - north east are the hatching grounds, south the Living Caverns, these being the two largest caverns in the weyr.

To the east, a small entrance leads in to the ground weyrs - the ledges of these line the bowl wall above, often filled with dragons of gold or bronze; westwards is another ledge, but with a staircase built into the wall, allowing access to the Sable Sands. The infirmary is located towards the southwest.

Lear is sat to one side of the Sothern Bowl, his clothes sharp and clean, his hair a mess, but he seems perfectly relaxed. His eyes wandering here and there as one movement or another catches his attention.

The bowl is a fairly busy place at any given time of day. Zorya makes her way out into the bowl from the direction of infirmary. A few steps away from the wall and she plants a foot to spin once on her toes before falling back flat good with a contented sigh, pulling in a deep breath of fresh air.

With the different motions catching Lear's eyes, the spin was caught out of the corner of his eye. Raising an eyebrow he smiles. "Someone's happy?" he asks lightly. Though he had not commented to others, the spin had been nice to see.

Zorya blinks, her gaze flashing back over her shoulder towards the nearby voice in surprise. "Ah.. um… hi." she replies, hesitantly. She was going to do something, but that seems to have been set aside for the moment as she's distracted by the boy. "Ah don't think we've met…"

Lear smiles, broader this time as he then nods in agreement. Rising from where he was sitting, and after making sure his clothes were straightened out from where he had been sitting on the ground. (a quick motion really), he then holds out his hand. "No, don't think we have. I'm Lear, Launderer here.." Suddenly he looks across the bowl. "I don't mean to interupt you, if you were on your way somewhere."

Zorya glances back over her shoulder at the mention of her having been going somewhere. "Oh, no. If I'm five minutes later at the beach I'm five minutes later." she replies, lifting a shoulder in a light shrug before the offered hand is taken notice of. She reaches out with a hand to complete the greeting, its a short shake as she offers up her own name, "Zorya, Harper Apprentice."

Lear looks in the direction of the beach before back to Zorya. "Pleasure to meet you." The hand that was originally shaken now removes curls of his mop of hair out of his eyes before he tilts his head lightly to one side. "As long as your not late for a duty or something?" He offers before asking. "Are you apprenticing here, as a harper?" His manor light and curious, though he would not mean to offend by questions, his manner showing that.

Zorya shakes her head, "Not late, no." she assures. "Ah just like practicin' there some days is all." A nod follows in response to his next question. "Posted here, yeah. Still go back to the hall on occasion." A moment of awkward silence hangs between the two as she looks for the words she wants, "So then.. you're new at Ista?" A likely assumption since they'd already agreed they hadn't met before.

Lear listens to the words about practicings and nods as he understands. Chuckling ligthly he nods. "Yes. Not been here too long, was glad to get work here." He looks about before adding. "Not that I have travelled far, from the Hold, but I didn't really fit into crafts there." Its not something he minds to note, as he adds. "But I like this work." Not wanting to seem if he is just talking about himself, he clears his throat. "How long have you been posted here?!" His smile is light as he asks adding. "So many new faces, I hope to rememeber people after I meet them." a simple statement.

Zorya bobs her head in a gentle nod of listening as the boy goes on. "About a turn an' a half," she replies after a moment of thought to calculated on the answer. "Had some time at Eastern an' Igen ta though." she adds creating idle conversation. "Glad yer likin it." she offers with a smile, "Yeah, most of the people Ah've managed ta meet here so far are pretty nice."

Lear can't help the surprise registering on his face. "You have traveled to Eastern and Igen?!" In his turns 16 turns he has not travelled farther than Ista! He cant help it then, and the questions can be seen crossing his mind. "You say you goto the Harper Hall. Did you spend time there too?!" he would love to ask more, but he is aware of the practice and would not want to come across as nosy.

Zorya nods slowly, hesitantly, not quite sure how to react to the boy's excitement over her travels. "Really though.. Ah like Ista better," she notes with a tone that leads to say that that's not something that should particularly be repeated. "Its home Ah guess though so…" Well that goes without saying, doesn't it.

Lear notes the slight hesitant-ness and smiles lightly before chuckling. "Your secrets safe with me! But I would love to have seen some of those places. Maybe one day." Its an honest comment. "You are right thought, it is home." Suddenly his eyes catch more motion and he gasps. "Oh, i am so sorry, I've been keeping you." He can't help the concern creeping into his tone. He turns back to Zorya for a moment then and smiles. "I hope we get to catch up again soon?" A hopeful note before he adds. "And I'd better go and tend my landery if I am honest!"
